I’m a self-care is self-love kinda girl. And in the words of Alex Elle, self-care is community care. When you take care of you, the world around you benefits as well.

Equally important to me about self-care is that the act of focusing on nurturing my mind, body and spirit activates my creativity. When I have writers block or feel stuck on anything, I go back to what makes me feel good. There’s a practice behind my poetry, my audition prep as an actor and my grounding as a live performer. For nearly a decade I’ve integrated Ayurveda into my lifestyle which I was introduced to by my dear friend Monica Yearwood. She is an Ayurvedic practitioner and founder of Hamsa Ayurveda and Yoga in Chicago, IL. The woman is a world of wellness knowledge and out of the box lifestyle practices.

I was thrilled that Monica was available to join us for the Cries From Quarantine preview “Stanzas in Spring” that marked the spring equinox. Since that livestream event I’ve had SO many friends (IRL and virtual friends lol) reach out about the tips she shared for spring self-care practices. Welp. We’ve made these tips easy to grab. Soak up–or revisit–Monica’s fab four wellness regimen additions on my YouTube channel. Prefer Instagram? Check out the IGTV video on the CFQ IG feed.

Monica is the real deal. Follow her on IG for meditation, healing tips and so much more.

These are just some of my ‘secrets’ to self-lovin’…I continue to add to my personal rituals all the time. I invite you to do the same. Let’s keep on loving on ourselves and making new discoveries together. Like what you see? Have your own special sauce? I’d love to hear from you! Drop a comment below or on the YouTube video. I LOVE YOU. XO
